When Lia Kate and I first sat down to talk about her wedding, we were trying to brainstorm some ways to really get Drew involved… to get him excited and make him feel like he could really be a part of everything.

Being a “Man’s Man” from the South, Drew loves hunting (among beer, fishing, etc.) so we thought, “Hey!  Since the wedding is usually more of the girl’s day as far as planning and decorating goes, what if we gave Drew the engagement shoot and really brought a part of his personality and passion to those photos?!”

We decided to go with a duck hunting theme for the engagement shoot… it sounds really different, but so fun, right?!  What’s even better is that Drew took Lia Kate with him hunting during the last duck season… and she LOVED IT!??!?!  These two are absolutely made for each other.  :)  Needless to say, I’ve been absolutely stoked about their engagement shoot since last fall.

We drove down to Mike Raahauge’s Shooting Enterprises for duck and upland game hunting in Corona.  Drew can be found here on the weekends during duck hunting season, and let me tell you, it is beautiful.  We shot (no pun intended) on location at Blind #24… the first blind Lia Kate and Drew hunted together.  I had such a blast learning about their love of hunting, the sport itself, all the gear and terminology (I actually picked up a gun?!), and especially, more about the two of them and their love for each other.  Enjoy!!

Lia Kate and Drew, seriously… you two are so adorable!!  I very much enjoyed getting to spend this time with you in a place so dear to both of you.  Thank you for letting me into your world and for challenging me to get out of my comfort zone and learn about something totally different!  I really feel like these images are a true representation of you two as a couple, and I am SO looking forward to your wedding this August!!  Blessings to you both!!
